Depression is usually ascribed to a combination of chemical (Hormonal) changes and environmental factors - both of which are present in a woman who has just given birth. Symptoms include weepiness, emotional numbness, a deep feeling of sadness, loss of appetite or overeating, excessive dependence on your partner and the feeling that your life is out of control.
